Plants & Trees Workshop - Identification, folklore and there Uses - This two day workshop is a in-depth look at native and naturalised species commonly found in our woodlands and meadows in the Sussex High Weald. The workshop aims to look at least 30-40 species a day, with day one focusing on trees and woodland history in the High Weald and day two on plants.
We'll cover key Id features, ethnobotanical uses, botanical names and also the folk history of how our ancestors used our founa and flora to aid thier lives in the form of medicine, wild food & foraging, bushcraft, dyes, clothing and more. We'll Also cover the most dangerous and poisenous groups and individual plants your likely to come across in our landscape. In the morning we'll discuss the best guides and books to aid you and discover some of the key day to day objects our ancestors relied on.
A great workshop for the outdoor professional looking to up skill or anyone with a interest in the outdoors who wants a greater understanding of what they may encounter on your trips to the woods.
The course is set entirely in the outdoors between forest and meadow. The accessability is very good but we will be on a gentle walk from 9am-5pm each day. If you have any concerns with mobility or anything else please feel free to drop me a email and we can discuss your needs.
